Problem Based on Coding Language
EXAMPLES :
(Q.1) In a certain code language,
(A) Pic vic nic means ‘winter is cold’,
(B) ‘to nic re’ means ‘summer is hot’,
(C) ‘re Pic boo’ means ‘winter and summer’, and
(D) ‘Vic the Pa’ means ‘nights are cold’.
Which word in that language represents ‘Summer’ ?
Solution : First underline the given English sentences. Then by cross comparison and by elimination the word can be coded. In the above question with the help of the sentences (B) and (C) ‘Summer’ is coded as ‘re’.
(Q.2) In a certain code language,
(A) ‘BCG’ means ‘Oranges are sweet’,
(B) ‘KUB’ means ‘buy good oranges’ and
(C) ‘BGL’ means ‘red sweet oranges’.
Which letter in that language means ‘Good’ ?
Solution : With the help of the sentences (A) and (B) à ‘B’ stands for ‘Oranges’.
(1), (2) and (3) à ‘G’ stands for ‘Sweet’.
‘C’ stands for ‘Are’ and ‘L’ stands for ‘Red’.
We can’t say anything about the letters, K and U as to which of these means ‘Good’.

(Q.3) In a certain code language,
- ‘de bom’ means ‘lovely flower’,
- ‘poc til de’ means ‘flower and fruit’,
- ‘pere Xas bom’ means ‘lovely green pasture’ and ‘poc
Xas’ means ‘green fruit’.
Which word in that language means ‘Pasture’ ?
Solution : Clearly, by cross comparison and by elimination, we can see ‘de’ means ‘flower’; ‘bom’ means ‘lovely’ ‘tis’ means ‘and’; ‘poc’ means ‘fruit’; ‘Xas’ means ‘green’; ‘pere’ means ‘pasture’.

(Q.4) In a certain code language,
(A) ‘rill ba’ means ‘yellow pen’,
(B) ‘pic ba sa’ means ‘flower and pen’,
(C) ‘Ul tam rill’ means ‘lovely yellow mango’ and
(D) ‘Se ul’ means ‘lovely flower’.
Which word in that language means ‘Mango’ ?
Solution : From statements (a) and (b) it can be concluded that ‘ba’ means ‘pen’.
Similarly, comparing (a) and (c) we find that ‘rill’ means ‘yellow’ ; and comparing (c) and (d) we find that ‘Ul’ means ‘lovely’.
Hence, it is clear from statement (C) that ‘tam’ means ‘mango’.
(Q.5) In a certain code language,
(A) ‘Cinto booli tsi nzro’ means ‘her village is Sarupur’,
(B) ‘mhi cinto kep tsi Oind’ mean ‘literature is her first love’,
(C) ‘Oind geit tsi cinto pkin’, means ‘literature reading is her hobby’.
Which word in that language represents ‘Literature’ ?
Solution : From statements (A) and (B), it follows that ‘Cinto’ and ‘tsi’ means ‘is her’.Now statements (B) and (C) , read together, lead to the conclusion that ‘Oind’ means ‘literature’.
(Q.6) In a certain code language, ,
(A) ‘lim Suk ta’ means ‘boys are clever’,
(B) ‘din lim pu’ means ‘girls are tall’,
(C) ‘pune ta’ means ‘boys and girls’.
Which word in that language represents ‘And’ ?
Solution : From statements (1) and (3) it follows that ‘ta’ means ‘boys’. From statements (2) and (3) it follows that ‘pu’ means ‘girls’.
Answer : ‘ne’ means ‘and’
