SBI PO Eligibility Criteria

  • Indian Citizens are eligible to apply for the post of SBI PO.
  • In case you are selected, then you should be prepared to be posted anywhere in India.

Essential Academic Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in any discipline from a recognized University or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government.
  • Those who are in the Final year/Semester of their Graduation may also apply provisionally.
  • Candidates having integrated dual degree (IDD) certificate should ensure that the date of passing the IDD is on or before eligibility date as given in related advertisement.
  • The date of passing eligibility examination will be the date appearing on the mark sheet or provisional certificate issued by the University / Institute.

Age Limit

You should not be below 21 years and not above 30 years (as given in related advertisement). There is also relaxation of Upper age allowed for the following categories:

SBI PO Selection Procedure

The SBI PO (Probationary Officer) examination will be held in two phases:

  • Preliminary
  • Main

In case you qualify in preliminary examination you will have to appear for Main examination. Then, finally, if shortlisted, you will be called for a Group Discussion & Interview.

Phase-I: Preliminary Examination

The SBI PO Preliminary Examination is conducted online. It consists of Objective Tests. The relevant details are given as under:

Phase – II: Main Examination

Like the prelims examination, Main Examination will also be conducted online. It will consist of Objective Tests for 200 marks and Descriptive Test for 50 marks. Immediately after completion of Objective Test, Descriptive Test will be administered.

SBI PO Objective Test for Mains

Objective Test: The SBI PO objective test consist of 4 Sections for total 200 marks. You have to complete this test in 3 hours.

SBI PO Objective Test for Mains

SBI PO Descriptive Test for Mains

The Descriptive Test includes a Test of English Language (Letter Writing & Essay). It will be of 30 minutes duration with 50 marks. You are required to qualify in the Descriptive Test by securing passing marks, to be decided by the Bank.

Phase – III: Group Discussion & Interview

Final Selection in SBI PO

The final selection in SBI PO is based on the marks obtained in the marks obtained in Main Examination (Phase-II), both in Objective Test and Descriptive Test. The final merit is prepared by adding the marks obtained in GD & Interview (Phase-III).

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there any negative marking in the SBI PO examination?

Yes. There will be a penalty for every wrong answer in your Prelims as well as mains examination. One fourth marks will be deducted from the assigned marks of every wrong answer given by you.

What to do if I am unable to upload photo and signature?

You must follow the guidelines. The preferred photo dimensions are 200 x 230 pixels and the file size should be between 20kb-50kb.
Similarly, the signature image should be of 140 x 60 pixels (preferred) and the size between 10kb – 20kb.

What to do if I have not received confirmation mail for registration and password?

Email/SMS is sent to you on your registered email ID and Mobile number. You need to check the same.

What to do if Payment has been debited from the account but I have not received registration confirmation?

In such case, you have to take a printout of the e-receipt and online application form.
Special Note: If the e-receipt is not generated, online transaction may not have been successful. Then you are advised to login again with their registration number and password and pay the Application Fees/ Intimation Charges online.

What is the status of my Registration?

·         a) Once your registration is successful then take printout of the application form with the help of registration no. and password.
·         b) In case your registration/ payment is not successful; Payment gateway is expected to refund the amount in due course, if any.

What to do if I forgot my Registration Password/ Registration number?

As mentioned above, your Registration Password/Registration Number are sent to your registered mobile number and email id. Your Registration Number is also printed on the application form after successful registration. You should keep a printout, for future reference.

What to do if I have not received E-mail/SMS for call letter?

You should keep a track of call letter on your E-mail and Mobile.

What to do if I am not able to download the Pre-Exam training call letter?

You should immediately contact the recruitment board officials.

What to do if I want to change my Centre/Venue / Date /Time?

The allotted Date, Time and Venue for the exam cannot be changed.

What are the cut off marks?

These are the marks secured by last candidate who is called for that particular activity i.e. Main exam, Interview etc.
