PROBLEMS BASED ON ALPHABETS
To solve the problems based on alphabets quickly :
- Remember the position of each letter in the alphabet series.
For example, the positions of E and S in the alphabet series are 5th and 19th .
- Remember the position of each letter when the alphabet series is written in the reverse order.
For example, the positions of X and D would be 3rd and 23rd respectively when the series is written in the reverse order .

(Q.1) Which of the following will come next the series below ?
MAN, KZP, IBR, GYT, ?
Solution : The first letter goes two steps back in the successive groups.
The second letter goes one step forward in odd number terms and one step backward in even number terms. The third letter goes two steps forward in each group.
Answer : ECV
(Q.2) Which of the following will come next in the series given below ?
KUZ, MOX, OIV, QET, ?
Solution : The first letters of the successive groups are K, M, O, Q . Clearly, the first letter of the next group will be S .
Similarly, the second letters of the successive groups are U, O, I, E. Clearly, the second letter of the next group would be the fourth letter to the left of ‘E’ in the alphabet. It is ‘A’ .
The third letters are Z, X, V, T. Clearly, the third letter of the next group in the above series would be ‘R’.
Answer : SAR
