CHSL is conducted in two stages; you need to clear for both the stages to get selected for the desired position. The two exam stages are given below:

Tier-1 exam is conducted online. It comprises four sections, and each section includes 100 multiple-choice questions carrying a weightage of 2 marks each.

SSC CHSL Tier 1
SSC CHSL Tier 1 comprises an online test having multiple-choice questions, whereas tier 2 is further divided into 2 sessions. Both tiers are divided into 4 sections-

SSC CHSL Syllabus Tier II 2024
The candidates who qualify for the SSC CHSL Tier 1 will have to appear for the Tier 2 exam. Tire 2 exam is also an objective type exam.
Tire 2 comprises three sections having two modules each. To qualify for this test, you will have to secure minimum qualifying marks by completing each section within a time frame of 60 minutes.

After qualifying the written test you will be called to appear for the SSC CHSL Skill Test, which is also the last stage of the selection process. The skill test is qualifying in nature. It is basically a computer typing test.

The SSC DEO Skill Test is qualifying in nature. You will be given printed matter in English which you would have to type on the computer. You should possess a Data Entry Speed of 8,000 key depressions per hour on the computer, to qualify. The details of SSC DEO skill test is as follows:
Test Duration: 15 Minutes
Minimum Speed Required: 2000-2200 strokes/key depressions
For DEO Post in CAG
Candidates should possess, for DEO Post in CAG, a Data Entry Speed of 15,000 key depressions per hour on the computer. You will be given printed matter in English which you would have to type on the computer. The details of for DEO Post in CAG skill test is as follows:
- Test Duration: 15 Minutes
- Minimum Speed Required: 3700-4000 strokes/key depressions
Typing Test for LDC/JSA
The Typing Test for LDC/JSA will be conducted only in English or Hindi. You will have to indicate the language preference while applying for the Examination.
In case you opt for English medium, then you should have a typing speed of 35 words per minute. Similarly, if you opt for Hindi medium, then you should have a typing speed of 30 words per minute corresponding to 10500 key depressions per hour and 30 wpm corresponds to 9000 key depressions per hour respectively.
Important Note: The speed will be judged on the accuracy of typing on the computer of a given text passage in 10 minutes.
